Jackson MG Series SLSMG Super Lightweight Soloist 2004 – Black – Sperzel Locking Tuners + Hardshell Case

Up for sale is a 2004 Jackson MG Series SLSMG Super Lightweight Soloist, an incredibly fast, lightweight, no-nonsense shred machine from one of Jackson's best eras.

The SLSMG takes the classic Soloist concept and strips it down into a sleek, lightweight guitar built for speed, precision, and aggressive playing. The thin body, neck-through construction, 25.5" scale, and unmistakable Jackson neck make this an incredibly comfortable guitar whether you're playing technical metal, leads, heavy rhythm work, or just about anything else you can throw at it.

This particular guitar has definitely been played and shows some love from its roughly 20 years of life, but it still presents beautifully. The black finish retains a deep, beautiful shine, and overall I'd describe the condition as Good to Very Good for its age.

Condition

The guitar does have various signs of normal play and handling wear consistent with its age. Please look closely at all photos for the best representation of its cosmetic condition.

The original tuners have been replaced with Sperzel locking tuners. Installation required new mounting holes. The previous owner filled the original tuner holes, and I have included a photo clearly showing this area. I want to be completely transparent about the modification so there are no surprises for the buyer.

Functionally, the guitar plays great and is an absolute blast to play.

Sperzel Locking Tuner Upgrade

The guitar has been upgraded with Sperzel locking tuners, which make string changes fast and provide excellent tuning stability.

As mentioned above, installing the Sperzels required new mounting holes. The original holes were filled by the previous owner and remain visible on the back of the headstock. This is shown clearly in the listing photos.

This is purely something I want prospective buyers to be aware of when evaluating the guitar.

Tone & Playability

This thing is a super shredder through and through.

The SLSMG's lightweight construction makes it extremely comfortable, while the neck-through design gives the guitar excellent upper-fret access and a very direct, responsive feel.

It's equally at home playing fast lead work, technical metal, heavy riffs, or anything else you have in mind. If you're looking for that classic Jackson feel without the additional weight and bulk of some other Soloist models, the SLSMG is a fantastic guitar.

It's currently set up in Drop C  with 11-60 strings and ready for heavy riffing right out of the case.

Cosmetic Condition

The body has some love on it. This isn't a mint collector's piece that's spent the last two decades untouched in a case.

There are signs of use and age throughout, but the black finish still has a beautiful gloss and shine, and the guitar presents extremely well overall.

I've done my best to photograph the condition accurately, including the tuner modification and filled mounting holes. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description.

Hardshell Case Included

The guitar does include a hardshell case, although it is not the original Jackson case.

The case also isn't a perfect custom fit for the SLSMG, but it provides protection for storage and shipping and will be included with the guitar.

Why I'm Selling

I'm only selling this one because I simply have way too many 6-string guitars, and this one isn't getting played.

Since purchasing it, I've probably put less than an hour of actual playtime on the guitar. It's too good of an instrument to spend its life sitting in a case, and I'd rather see it go to someone who will actually put it to use.

Final Notes

The Jackson SLSMG is a killer guitar from an era of Jackson that has developed a strong following for good reason. It's lightweight, incredibly fast, comfortable, and built to do exactly what a Soloist should do.

This example isn't cosmetically perfect and has the documented tuner modification, but that's also part of what makes it a guitar you can actually play without worrying about putting the first mark on it.

Plug it in, tune down, and let it rip.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you'd like additional photos.
