1959 Gretsch Chet Atkins Hollowbody Electric Guitar – Serial #30934

Beautiful late-1950s Gretsch Chet Atkins model in the classic orange/amber finish. This is a single-cutaway hollowbody with f-holes, bound body and neck, black pickguard featuring the Chet Atkins signature script and Gretsch logo, and a Bigsby vibrato (marked “Bigsby Patent”).

Serial number label (visible in photos): Gretsch MFG. Co., 60 Broadway, Brooklyn 11, N.Y. – Serial No. 30934. This places the guitar firmly in the 1959 production window.

Key features:

• Classic Chet Atkins styling and appointments

• Bigsby vibrato tailpiece

• Original-style hardware and controls

• Comes with hard-shell case (shown)

Condition notes:

The guitar shows expected age-related wear for a 65+ year-old instrument. Most notably, the original nitrocellulose (cellulose) binding exhibits classic breakdown/deterioration – cracking, shrinkage, and some flaking/separation along the body edges and neck heel area. This is very common on original Gretsch instruments from this era and does not affect playability, but it is clearly visible in the close-up photos and is disclosed fully. Finish has checking and normal player wear; overall the guitar remains structurally solid and a great player/collector piece with honest vintage character.

Electronics and setup have not been professionally verified by me for this listing – buyer is welcome (and encouraged) to have it inspected. No major structural repairs noted. The Bigsby functions as expected.

This is a genuine vintage Gretsch Chet Atkins from the desirable late-’50s Brooklyn era. Ideal for the player or collector who appreciates original instruments with honest patina and the classic Gretsch tone these guitars are famous for.

Priced to reflect the binding condition. Serious inquiries welcome – additional photos or video available upon request.

Shipping: Will ship in the hard case with extra padding. Buyer pays shipping + insurance. Local pickup also available.
