Up for sale is an exceptional, highly collectible piece of Fender history: a beautiful, all original, early 1966 Fender Jaguar in 3-Tone Sunburst. This instrument comes from the highly coveted "Transition Era" immediately following the CBS buyout. Most notably, it features the incredibly rare and brief bound neck with pearloid dot inlays configuration, which Fender only produced for a window of a few months between late 1965 and mid-1966 before moving permanently to block inlays. This guitar sounds exactly like a vintage Jag should—percussive, jangly, and incredibly articulate, with plenty of punch when you engage the lead circuit.

The Details & Authenticity Proof:

  • Neck Stamp: 15MAR66B (Standard "B" neck width).
  • Serial Number: 150506 on the original "F-stamped" neck plate.
  • Potentiometer Codes: Stackpole/CTS pots date to 304-6617. All solder joints appear original.
  • Pickups: Original gray-bobbin single-coil pickups, with original copper shielding claws and factory wind.
  • Tuners: Original F-style tuning keys that hold pitch smoothly.
  • Bridge & Hardware: Original floating tremolo system. The original mechanical string mute has original foam.

Condition, Playability & Weight:

  • Weight: 8 lbs. 7 oz — incredibly well-balanced.
  • Finish: Original nitrocellulose lacquer finish showing some small nicks around the edges that gives it an authentic, undeniable vintage mojo. No structural breaks.
  • Neck & Frets: The jaguar features a short 24 inch scale length neck providing excellent playability, as the frets are closer together. Neck profile is a comfortable C-shape. Frets are original with plenty of life left. The rosewood fingerboard is clean and free of deep divots.
  • Electronics: Fully functional. Both the lead and rhythm circuits work perfectly, and the switches are clean and quiet.

What’s Included with the guitar:

  • Original black / orange-lined Fender hardshell case (all latches functional)
  • Original tremolo arm Included.

The action on this guitar is low and smooth! The neck width is super comfortable, it seems like it was originally made for a smaller hand. Without a doubt, most comfortable guitar I have ever played! Never abused, always taken care of and it shows; owned this guitar for over 40 years. Make an offer for one of the nicest all original players left out there!
