What we have here is a 1971 Fender Mustang in original Competition Red finish (w/racing stripe), with a 1965 short scale neck. Both parts are authentic Fender Mustang parts. This rare neck is the short scale version that Fender offered on the Mustang model, which has a 22 1/2" scale length. The serial number is 311324, which dates the body to 1971. Some more details: the neck, which dates 9APR65A, has been refinished. The decal is not original as well. Our fantastic in-house luthier did all the work. Turned out great! The electronics and pick guard are also reproductions. The pickups are a fantastic sounding set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity Mustang pickups, which are true to vintage tone. They really sound amazing. And you'll never have to worry about re-winding them. The guitar is equipped with high quality CTS pots as well. As stated, the finish is original. And in-regards to the finish that's under the pick guard (see last pic)....the original pick guard was glued on (and in bad shape). Somewhere out the, likely to do with heat, it melted into the finish. Everything's structurally fine though. With all that said, the guitar plays and sounds great, and is an absolute blast to play!!
