This guitar was purchased by me from The Acoustic Centre in London in 1995. I had the American Walnut Burl scratch-plate fitted shortly after.
Over the years, the manufacturer’s paper sticker has become detached and disappeared! The serial number 6594 can be found branded onto the neck block. Relevant correspondence with Lowden Guitars is included in the photos.
The guitar is in good condition, an opinion expressed by Julyan Wallis of the BBC’s The Repair Shop, who repaired a ding just inside the waist on the bass side. There are two other minor dings: one near the edge of the lower bout; another parallel to the bridge on the treble side. There are other minor scratches on the top consistent with age.
A microphonic pickup has been installed, with the jack in the peg hole.
To facilitate ease of playing, the saddle on the bass side was replaced with one slightly lower. The original saddle is in the case.
