Description:
Vintage Impact Telecaster-style bass, made in Japan between 1969 and 1975 - one of the small-bodied (very light!) tele basses produced alongside the identical Jedson and Teisco models of the era. Cream finish, white scratchplate, chrome hardware, rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets.
A few notes:
- Recently set up and electrics are fully functional - both pickups, both switches, volume and tone pots all seem to be working fine
- A few dings and small scratches consistent with a 55-year-old instrument (see photos), including a small chip on the lower horn, and one in the scoop beside the neck
- Original chrome tuners, roller-style bridge, and covered tailpiece all present - suspect tone and volume knobs might have been replaced at some point, but that was before me!
A note on intonation: Intonation has always been a bit off, especially on the E string. As a temporary workaround I've angled the saddle which seems to get it 'good enough' for me, but it would benefit from a proper look from someone with the right setup tools/experience.
Selling as I'm having a clear-out and it's not getting the use it deserves. A great pickup for anyone after a genuine slice of Japanese vintage bass history, or looking for a fun setup project to really dial in.
