Up for grabs at Moe's Guitars is an exceptional, investment-grade 1963 Gibson Melody Maker Double Cutaway in its rare, original factory Sunburst finish. This 60+ year-old survivor has NO breaks, NO cracks, and NO modifications. It is 100% factory original, fully documented, and ready for a serious collection or professional studio.
THE PRO BENCH FACTS
Serial Number: 637XX (Deeply stamped, 1963 Kalamazoo production).
The Blacklight Test: Passed with flying colors. 100% original nitrocellulose lacquer finish with vibrant color and gorgeous, natural weather checking. Absolutely NO paintwork, NO touch-ups, and NO overspray.
Truss Rod Status: Fully inspected on our bench using precision straightedges and feeler gauges. The truss rod is 100% functional with room to adjust after our complete pro setup.
Electronics & Hardware: 100% original 1963 Gibson single-coil pickup and factory compensated wrap-around bridge. We cleanly touched up a few aged, cold solder joints to guarantee 100% reliable, scratch-free electrical performance.
The Tuners: Original strip tuners are present. Note: One tuner post is slightly bent, but it still functions and holds pitch perfectly. We chose to leave it original for the collector.
Case: Includes a non-original modern hardshell case for maximum protection during transit.
PLAYABILITY
Our shop just finished a master-level setup. The neck is stable, the action is low, and it plays effortlessly up and down the beautiful Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. Expect honest, historic 1960s cosmetic wear—minor edge chips and dings that give it unmatched vintage mojo.
