Martin 1975 D-45 Shade Top

- A miraculous piece of history -

Presenting a 1975 Martin D-45 Shade Top: the peak of Martin's shimmering, bell-like tone, wrapped in an extremely unusual and rare sunburst finish - a genuinely historic treasure.

Throughout Martin's history, the D-45 was typically left in its natural finish to show off the beauty of its premium woods, so a colored "shade top" finish was exceptionally uncommon - produced only in small numbers through special orders, and highly regarded in the vintage market as a result.

This example dates to 1975, built by skilled craftsmen during the folk boom of the '70s, selecting only the finest woods available.

The non-scalloped bracing typical of the era gives a powerful, solid low end, combined with the D-45's signature clear, richly harmonic highs. Roughly 50 years of aging has fully integrated the woods, letting even a light touch ring out with orchestral grandeur.

[Repairs / Replaced Parts / Cosmetic Condition]
Small dings, scratches, and weather-checking are visible, but considering its age this is in excellent condition with no cracks. Pickguard has been replaced. Endpin hole has been enlarged. Saddle has been replaced.

[Playing Condition]
No buzzing or dead notes. Action at the 12th fret: 2.4mm (low E), 1.9mm (high E)
Saddle protrusion: approx. 2.0-2.5mm.
