It changes color when you move. Then it changes again.
This is the Frankenstein Stratocaster — one of exactly two guitars (American Stratocasters) in the Azor Custom Monster Modification Series, and the only one of its kind that will ever exist. (Its sibling is a Creature from the Black Lagoon Telecaster. That's the whole series. There is no third.)
The body wears a four-color chameleon finish that reads green, blue, and purple through most of the room — and then flips to gold or deep red when you catch it at a hard angle or under stage lighting. Photos get maybe half of it. In person, it does something different every time you turn your hips.
Bolted to the front is a one-off pickguard featuring Frankenstein's monster, commissioned from artist Scott Spillman. Original commissioned artwork, not a decal, not a reprint. Two additional unfinished pickguards are included — so if you want a second look, a second monster, or your own artist's take, the canvas is already in the case.
This is not a wall hanger
Everything under the paint was chosen to play, not to pose.
- Suhr V60LP pickups — Suhr's low-peak '60s-voiced single coils. Glassy, articulate, none of the ice-pick. They clean up beautifully and take drive without turning to mush.
- Gotoh GE1996T double-locking tremolo, black, 36mm block — the good one. Bombproof, and the 36mm brass block gives it real body and sustain that thinner blocks don't.
- Fender blacked-out locking tuners, matched to full black hardware throughout.
- American Stratocaster replacement neck — proper feel, proper scale, no compromises at the business end.
- Professionally set up at Mike Lull's Guitar Works in Seattle — one of the most respected luthier shops in the Pacific Northwest.
- Movie Monsters Guitar Strap
Tuning stability is absurd. Gotoh floating trem, locking tuners, and a Lull setup is a combination that just does not go out. Dive on it, pull up on it, gig it all night — it comes back.
Condition
Honest and specific: the finish is near-perfect on the front and sides, with some light scratches on the back from normal play. Nothing structural, nothing you see when it's on you or on a stand. Everything is fully functional and set up and ready to play the day it arrives.
The guarantee
I believe this is the best-playing Strat you will ever put your hands on — and if it isn't, I'll buy it back. That's not marketing filler. Play it. If it doesn't do what I've said it does, it comes home to me.
Who this is for
Someone who's tired of owning the same guitar as everyone else. A player who wants an instrument with a story, a face, and a finish that makes people walk across the room to ask about it. And — if you're shopping for someone else — this is about as far from a gift-card-and-a-gig-bag as it gets. It's a 1 of 1. Nobody else has one.
Ships fast, packed properly, and insured. Questions and offers welcome — happy to send more photos or video of the color shift in motion.
