2023 Gibson Custom Shop 1964 SG Standard Reissue, left-handed, Cherry Red VOS. Built in Nashville, sold through a dealer in Osaka Japan, then to an owner in California, then to me in Maine. I'm grading it very good to be safe, but it's arguably excellent. The weight is 6 lbs 14.8 oz.
Set up for very low action and intonated at the 12th fret. All electronics are original and untouched. I removed the walrus tooth (in the case) and swapped the high-E saddle to metal, which makes the high E sound more like the B string. The original nylon saddle is bagged with the rest of the case candy.
The truss rod is in great shape, and there are only a few small dings, one on the back arm bout and one on the top of the headstock. Nothing structural, nothing that affects play or tone, and the frets have excellent life left. It's very accurate to an original both aesthetically and structurally, though the neck joint is a superior full tenon that lowers the odds of a heel crack. There is aniline dye bleed through the neck binding, which is vintage-correct and not an issue.
It really does nail the early Clapton Fresh Cream / Sleepy Time sound. Guitar tone at 6 to 8, volume on 10, into a cranked Marshall with flat EQ and low presence on the normal channel gets that Bluesbreakers sound. For the clean B.B. King Live at the Regal: bright channel, amp very clean, treble low or off, guitar knobs full up and the middle position.
At every restring I clean it with Music Nomad All-in-One, which has pulled off a lot of the gross 'VOS' residue Gibson wipes on. The nickel aging underneath is genuine wear, not fake grime.
