2023 Island Instruments Beanstock

A distinctive creation from the workshop of Nic Delisle of Island Instruments, based in Montreal. The Beanstock model is normally a bass, but here is a variant in the form of a fan fret 6 string guitar. The body is made from solid sitka spruce, and finished in an attractive salmon color.

Excellent(+); Reflective of its recent year, the guitar is in extremely clean shape, with no wear to point out. Currently set up with string height about 5/64” to 4/64”, with just a touch of relief in the neck.

***

Unique to say the least, an exercise in reimagining a bass as a six string guitar. The spruce body is very cool, and so is the experience of playing a regular guitar with this sort of single cutaway style normally seen on basses. The pickup too is a prototype P-Bass style pickup, which further blends the senses. Other notable elements include the fan frets, headless design, and archtop-style adjustable bridge. There are so many elements to this guitar, but they all end up coming together in a harmonious package.
