1962 Fender Princeton 6G2 – Technical Description
The 1962 Fender Princeton 6G2 is a handwired, all-tube guitar amplifier produced during Fender's "Brownface" era (1961–1963). It utilizes the 6G2 circuit, featuring a fixed-bias push-pull output stage, cathodyne (split-load) phase inverter, and bias-modulated tremolo, delivering approximately 12 watts RMS into a single 10-inch speaker. The design provides exceptional touch sensitivity, early power tube breakup, and a dynamic response that bridges the tonal characteristics of Fender's late tweed and early blackface amplifiers.
This is a US-specification 117V amplifier, so a suitable step-down transformer will be required when used with European mains voltage.
