A Kensington lock (also called a Kensington Security Slot or K-Slot) is a small, standardized metal slot found on the rear or side of many electronic devices (laptops, monitors, docking stations, and gear like your M-Audio Oxygen 25).

How it works:You insert a special cable lock (sold separately) into the slot and lock it. The other end of the cable is then secured to a fixed object (desk, table, wall mount, etc.). This makes it much harder for someone to quickly walk off with the device.It’s a simple, widely used anti-theft feature....the same type you’ll find on most modern laptops.
