2008 Fender Custom Shop Mike Eldred LTD Release ’52 Telecaster.
- Serial # R6752.
- 1 of 10 made for release in 2008. This was the first unit, finished in November 2007. (9 went to dealers)
- This Telecaster was built by Mike Eldred (Former Fender Custom shop Director and owner of El Cabron Guitars) in late 2007 as a gift for a longtime Fender photographer. El Cabron Guitars was created by Mike who’s a highly respected figure in the music industry with a career closing in on 40-years. Mike started building guitars at Charvel Manufacturing in the 1977 as Grover Jackson’s first hired employee. This Tele is situated between Mike’s Charvel years and his current El Cabron endeavor.
- Included in the sale is brand new El Cabron/Robert Keeley Limited Edition Custom Blues Disorder pedal. A perfect pairing for a single coil Tele, bridging Mike's El Cabron and Fender years.(New in box, opened to photograph, Serial # 02424, Initialed by Mike on 7/10/26
- Mike carved his nickname, “Rev. McKnuckle” in the back as a nod to his motorcycle accident where he earned said nickname. He also signed his name on the headstock.
- This guitar was photographed in an ad highlighting Fender’s newly refreshed Custom Care campaign (as shown in Guitar Aficionado’s second ever magazine, VOL 1, Issue 2, included in the case) in 2009. The black envelope in the ad is included with an original bag tag that is no longer a part of Custom Care and the red "postcards" that you cannot purchase. (This guitar was in a few Fender ads during this time, sadly I have lost copies over the years)
- Advertised as a Heavy Relic but not that heavy compared to today’s models.
- All case candy included sans the original strap. (See original shipping box green label that was never applied and a note from a Custom Shop employee on the back)
- Mike built/set up as a comp to be used in ads prior to the introduction in Jan 2008. Not technically a prototype but the first of 10. According to the hang tag, (3) employees had it pass through their stations afterwards before being delivered to Scottsdale. Mike has set it up since then, as recently as this spring.
- OHSC, ash tray, vintage cable, a printout of the specs (Pre Shop Traveler days), COA, CS sticker, left-handed wiring harness and manual included.
