One of the weirdest and wildest pedals I have ever owned and it’s really difficult to find an actual write up so I’m gonna wing it:
Deep Space Devices is a solo pedal builder based in the US. He creates insane effects in small batches and acid etches the enclosures all on his own.
Dust is a fuzz/delay pedal but not in the way you might think. The fuzz portion of the pedal has zero control aside from off and on. It just sounds insane on its own. The delay is a single repeat delay that is always on along with the fuzz as long as the pedal is engaged. The single knob controls the delay time which at its lowest is so quick it’s almost undetectable. At its highest setting it’s sort of like a single 8th note repeat.
You engage with the left footswitch and the right foot switch latches the delay and sort of emulates the warp setting on a boss dd3… sort of… it lapses and continues repeating at the same rate and volume and it sounds like… well, dust. In a very cool way. If you turn the knob while it’s latched instead of that wobbly drunk delay time noise you’re used to it sort of sounds like a spaceship from an 80’s movie landing or taking off.
It’s acid etched so it is super rusty looking by design. Some of the paint on the back came off when I removed the Velcro and cleaned the adhesive. The scratches you see in the middle of the back going top down are his logo. It looks just as insane and gritty as it sounds. Give dust a shot.
