TWO Vintage Altec 428B Tube Preamps P522B Original Power Supply

These 428B are great mic preamps -   extremely rare Altec 428B tube preamplifiers that are the predecessor to the Altec 458B preamplifiers found in the Altec 250SU consoles. The Altec 428B preamplifiers were designed for the early 1950's Altec 250A console and featured the wonderful Peerless 4629 (K-241-D with flying leads) input transformer and the excellent 16267 output transformer. These early 1950's Peerless transformers are considered by many some of the nicest transformers ever made.   The transformers in the Altec 428B are arguably superior to those found in the Altec 458B modules and the 1960's Langevin 5116B modules.  
 40db of gain, +/-1 db from 20-20K , and +20dbm of output level. 

These amplifiers sound beautiful and are some of the finest sounding tube amplifier modules I've ever used. I have 2 that I am keeping ! Each module uses two excellent sounding and low-noise RCA 12AY7A/6072 tubes which are the the same tubes found in the AKG C12 and  Telefunken ELA M 251 microphones. The necessary mating trays are included,. At some point these may  need to be refurbished with new electrolytic and film capacitors - but since they pass audio I am leaving them alone. I am selling them as all original, unmodified, units. Because they are over 70   years old and original they are sold as is
