This is an early Don Mare Telecaster bridge pickup from 2007. I heard from Mr. Mare regarding his recollection of this pickup and his words are:
***[T}hat pickup was my 2nd year into DMP. [In} 2007 6.K was popular spec - J.E. was the buyer. but I have no idea full name or if he was famous or not. most likely Alnico 3's but if butter knife from the kitchen really slams down and sticks to it then its Alnico 5s - would then sound more like The St. Bakersfield AL-5 model. A soft magnetic tug / pull on the butter knife will be 3's and this will be the JOEL FOY - the pickup 4709 - Al-3 6k ***
Don's test shows this to be Alnico 3 magnets. Based on Don's description, this is what would become the Joel Foy model. I purchased this used so I don't have the original box or screws.
No issues. It sounds great. I have something else in that guitar now and want to pass this along to the next tone chaser.
