Here is a vintage 1976-77 Fender Mustang bass. The only modifications I am aware of are the pickup replacement and most likely a refinish to mocha brown. I also believe that the pots were changed to CTS 450s3495 pots, but I am not much of an expert what pots Fender had during the 70s. I was never told by the previous owner if it has been refinished but based on the grain peeking through, I strongly suspect it is. The mochas I've seen that are original have wood filler and a heavier poly coat. I think this was refinished in nitro or a thinner poly coat. To me it doesn't make much of a difference, I think it looks fine. I believe the body is ash. Pickguard appears original, as do the bridge and tuners. It is a pretty lightweight bass, much lighter than other basses I have.

The electronics are not original. The pickup looks to be a Nordstrand NM4-V and it sounds great. It has angled pole pieces that give more space for coil. It sounds like a P-bass and the pickups are very clean and pretty loud. There is no audible hum with the electronics. There is brass(?) shielding underneath the pickups. There are some blemishes around the neck, some dings as well but there are no cracks and it is structurally sound. It looks like the truss rod has been turned in it's 50 years of existence, but I haven't had to mess with any of that since I've gotten it. The neck is straight as an arrow and has a real vintage fender feel. The bass is a breeze to play, the only reason why I'm selling it is because I'm thinning out my collection and I just don't play bass as much as I used to.

This item comes with a faux-leather Peavy cloth case. It is pretty well padded.
