About this listing
1980 BC Rich USA Mockingbird Transparent Blue Flamed Maple w Original Case!
Here is a really nice and rare circa 1980 BC Rich Mockingbird USA Made from the true golden era of BC Rich guitars. These early USA-made instruments have become increasingly sought after for their craftsmanship, unique designs, and incredible appointments, and this is a particularly cool example.
This one features a rare transparent blue finish with beautiful birdseye maple figuring, giving it a fantastic look that really stands out. Finding these early USA Mockingbirds in this finish is not easy, and this one has all the character that makes these guitars special.
The guitar is 100% original except for the strap buttons. It plays great and everything appears to be working properly. The neck is straight, the action is comfortable, and it plays effortlessly all the way up the fingerboard. All switches are functioning and the electronics are delivering the tones these guitars are known for.
Condition is very good overall. It is not a collector-grade example, but it is a fairly clean and honest player. There are a few things to mention: there is a small hairline crack coming off the jack plate area and there is an additional strap button hole on the top horn likely from the factory. Structurally, however, the guitar is solid.
Cosmetically, there are some light buckle marks on the back, a few scattered dings, and a small area of finish loss near the nut. The neck itself is very clean with no dents, and there is tons of fret life remaining.
This is a great opportunity to own a real USA-made BC Rich Mockingbird from the legendary early era in a rare transparent blue finish.
It comes complete with the original hardshell case, which even has some great old-school stickers from the era, including references to famous Long Island-area bands such as Pat Benatar, The Pretenders, and Squeeze.
