Long prized as an ivory substitute under resource-protection efforts such as CITES, "artificial ivory (ivoroid)" has a long history in instrument parts. This set uses Galalith, a historic casein-based plastic made primarily from milk protein, for both the bridge pins and endpin.
Galalith was a traditional casein plastic used from around the 1930s as an ivory substitute - in piano white keys, umbrella handles, even Chanel jewelry. Rather than mass-molded, each piece has to be individually machined, which is labor-intensive, but the result beautifully reproduces the natural texture and heft of real ivory.
With a pleasant weight and smooth feel that ordinary resin pins don't have, this set gives an acoustic guitar a more authentic, vintage-like look. Highly recommended for anyone dressing up a favorite instrument or looking for a step up in parts quality.
*Bridge pin insertion diameter: 4.3mm-5.3mm (at the bottom)
*Endpin insertion max diameter: 7.6mm-8.3mm (at the bottom)
*If the pins are too thick for your guitar's holes, sanding/adjustment will be needed.
