Antonio de Torres was an innovative and great luthier who set modern standards. Many luthiers have used him as a reference, and he is one of those who have achieved great feats that have etched his name into guitar history. David Whiteman built his expertise by repairing instruments he himself created, and succeeded in producing exquisite replicas. This guitar has a smaller body than modern guitars, in the style known as 19th-century guitars. Despite its small size, it has a surprising volume and a rich, resonant sound. However, the tone retains its definition, allowing you to experience a truly distinctive sound. This particular guitar possesses a tone that combines the dry character characteristic of Spanish guitars. There is a transparent film attached to the side of the body near the constriction on the first string side, possibly to prevent shellac reaction, and also a transparent film under the bridge, which is thought to be to prevent string slippage.
