This is the domestic version of the TS9, a late 1980s OD-9 equipped with the "TA75558P" op-amp!
It adds rich harmonics and pleasant compression without distorting the original sound. The sound range, centered on the mids, has an exquisite breadth, and it has established itself as a standard booster for tube amplifiers since SRV. The OD-9 is the domestic version of the "Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer." There are differences in the casting shape of the enclosure between the early 1981-82 period and the later 1983-84 period. Also, the back label was black until mid-1982, but changed to white (silver) afterward. The op-amp used also changed over time, from Japan Radio's JRC2043DD to JRC4558D to Toshiba's TA75558P. Compared to its predecessor, the TS808 (JRC4558D), the OD-9 features a modified tone constant, resulting in extended high and low frequencies, particularly rich bass, creating a punchy, clear sound. This particular unit features the TA75558P chip, which has a less pronounced midrange and a cleaner sound than the JRC4558D-equipped models.
