The Ibanez 540PIII in Black is a long-awaited return to form, revived through the Genesis Collection for players who've been asking for it for years. It's ideal for intermediate to pro-level players looking for something distinct from the standard Ibanez lineup. The shape is a standout-the upper horn is classic RG, but the lower horn is oversized and offset, giving it a unique edge that's unmistakable up close and from afar. This design was always a favorite among Ibanez fans for its rarity and bold look, and now it's finally back in production.

Under the hood, you've got a Japanese-made build with a 5-piece Maple/Walnut Super Wizard neck, a bound rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, and a V8 humbucker in the bridge for tight, articulate lead tones. Paired with the Infinity R neck pickup and a 5-way switch, you've got a range of voicings ready for metal, fusion, or anything that demands precision and clarity. The Edge tremolo is the original spec-responsive and stable, ready for big dives or subtle modulation without throwing you out of tune.

Playability is fast and focused. That Super Wizard neck is thin-17mm at the first fret, 19mm at the 12th-so if you're used to shredding or want to get more speed and accuracy into your playing, this is going to feel right. It's comfortable, lightweight thanks to the basswood body, and every component feels pro-level, from the Gotoh tuners to the locking nut. We're really glad to see this one back on the wall. It's a niche classic that fills a gap between modern metal versatility and that '80s-era Ibanez character.
