The JDM Pedals "Elektrika" Custom Germanium Fuzz Pedal
A modernized, switchable, extremely high-grooviness Tonebender Mk1 & Zonk Machine style Fuzzbox. We stick to the original circuit for maximum vibe, and have worked in some mods that don't suck tone, but add more flexibility (tone & gate controls).
The 2024 model is built with a combination of 2N1307, AC121VI, and Soviet-Era Russian Military transistors. We tune each pedal by ear, focusing on a ripping fuzz tone, good cleanup with the guitar's volume knob, and low noise when the "Gate" control is set to allow sustain. Our goal is to create a MK1 Fuzz that has all the best qualities of a top-notch vintage unit as well as a few modern interpretations of the fuzz sound.

The JDM Pedals "Elektrika" is our take on the legendary Tonebender Mk1. Made famous in the recordings of The Yardbirds, Mick Ronson (with David Bowie), Led Zeppelin, and many other godlike guitar tones of the era, this fuzz is just a must-have for tone freaks. When you roll back your guitar's volume, the Elektrika (like the Mk1) cleans up in a unique way, giving you a warm, overdriven tone, with a biting, ready to feed-back edge when cranked to the hilt.
We've improved upon the original design by adding a passive tone control to help players find the proper tone on modern amps and guitars, which have an extended treble range when compared to the recordings of 40+ years ago! Our carefully voiced passive EQ can get your tone right into that vintage pocket.
The "fat/tight" switch allows you to select between the response of the original Tonebender or the equally notorious "Zonk Machine".
The "Gate" control lets you dial in that unique "choppy" or "fizzy" sound that some vintage MK1 units had, or turn the gate up higher to increase sustain and smooth the tone.
All Germanium transistors keep this pedal true to vintage tone, and a modern +9vDC connection lets you daisy-chain the pedal with your other pedals without shorting anything out (this pedal does also include an internal 9v battery clip.)
If you've been dreaming of vintage Mk1 tones, here they are.
