Dunlop 105Q Cry Baby Bass Wah
The 105Q is a wah designed specifically for bass, introduced in 1999, with a circuit that deliberately preserves the fundamental low frequencies: the effect primarily operates on the mids and highs, allowing for a highly expressive wah sound without losing low-end response. It uses an envelope-filter-style circuit rather than a traditional inductor, with a Q Variable control that ranges from a broad, smooth sweep to a narrower, more vocal sound, as well as an adjustable boost of up to +20 dB. Its auto-off/auto-return system activates the wah as soon as you press down on the pedal and disengages it when you lift your foot, making it particularly practical for fills and solos. The frequency range extends approximately from 180 Hz in the heel position to 1.8 kHz in the toe position. It runs on 9V, draws around 3.5 mA, and features buffered bypass. A particularly interesting model for bass, but also for down-tuned guitars or players looking for a deeper, thicker wah sound.
