About this listing
Here’s a very cool 1988 Rickenbacker 360 in rare limited-edition Midnight Blue finish with black trim. This unusual aesthetic sets it apart from the standard Rick look, giving it a bolder and more modern (dare we say more 80s!) appearance. The guitar has had a Bigsby tremolo system installed. Weight is 3600g. The guitar has standard playwear and minor dings but in in great overall condition. It has been refretted with medium-jumbo frets, which are like new, making it play better than most Rickenbackers. It comes with its original black tolex case.Model HistoryThe Rickenbacker 360 has been a staple of the company’s lineup since the early 1960s. Originally designed with the brand’s signature contoured maple body, distinctive slash soundhole, and unique “Rick-O-Sound” stereo output, the model quickly became one of the most recognizable guitars in rock history.Famous players include George Harrison of The Beatles, who used a 12-string version extensively, as well as Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, whose jangly tones defined an entire genre. Later, artists such as Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), and Tom Petty continued the tradition, making the 360 a go-to instrument for shimmering, articulate guitar tones.SPECIFICATIONSBody: Semi-hollow, maple construction with contoured edgesFinish: Limited edition Midnight Blue with black trimNeck: Maple with a rosewood fingerboardFrets: Medium-jumbo (refretted, like new)Scale Length: 24.75 inches (629mm)Nut Width: 1.63 inches (41.4mm)Pickups: Rickenbacker Hi-Gain single-coilsElectronics: 2 Volume, 2 Tone, Blend control, 3-way switch, Rick-O-Sound stereo outputBridge: Modified with Bigsby tremolo systemHardware: Black pickguard, black binding, black truss rod cover, Schaller tunersWeight: 3600gCase: Original black tolex case
