About this listing
Up for sale, a 1995 Fender Stratocaster Classical model STCL-100 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This very rare guitar was produced in limited quantities during the mid ‘90s, easily ranking among the most unique Strats ever to come out of Fender, designed for nylon strings and featuring a Mike Christian ST-1 piezo saddle pickup. Interestingly, this is not the only nylon-string Strat ever released, as the nylon string Yngwie Malmsteen signature model STCL-YM (also produced by Fender Japan), boasts a very similar feature set.Weighing 7lbs 3oz, tonewoods include an ash body and a maple neck capped with a thick slab rosewood fretboard. This Strat is quite resonant, with a smooth midrange warmth accentuated by the nylon strings and faithfully captured by the piezo system. This guitar is a real marvel, providing a faithful plugged-in classical guitar approximation. The sound has an open, airy quality, with a silky growl from the wound strings and a sonorous, vocal quality to the plain strings. There’s simply something very unique about the feel of nylon strings under the fingertips with a Strat neck in the palm. This Stratocaster STCL-100 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar with hard tension nylon strings, low action, and accurate intonation.Neck Specs:Wood: MapleShape: Medium C, measuring .845” 1st fret, .960” 12th fretFretboard: Rosewood, 15.75” radius, dot inlayFrets: Medium jumbo, no wearScale Length: 25 1/2”Nut: 1.650” (42mm), boneTuners: Gotoh, amber buttonsSerialization: “Made in Japan,” N-prefixFactory Markings: Neck pocket pencil-dated ‘12/14/95’, ‘Japan’ stamped on neck heelBody Specs:Wood: AshPickups: Mike Christian ST-1 active piezo (block saddles)Controls: VolumeHarness: Japanese 250K pot, Piezo powered by 9VHardware: Synchronized Tremolo, jack cup (on back)Plastics: “F”-stamped knobBody markings: Neck heel pocket pencil-dated ‘12/14/95’, just ‘Japan’ stamped on neck heelThe gloss Natural finish has some tiny doweled holes on top presumably from a reversed experiment with a pickguard, with light buckle worming on the back, some faint finish scratches in the clear coat, small dings along the lower bout perimeter, and minor checking/chipping at the corners of the neck pocket.
