Era & Location: Active circa 1890-1895 in Britenfeld, Saxony (Germany) Near Leipzig.
Craftsmanship: Well-constructed instruments, predominantly built on the Guarneri model, featuring a high-quality golden-brown varnish.
Retailers: At the time commissioned and imported to England (UK) by dealers like Foucher, and later Haynes and Co.

This Cello features all hallmarks of the makers style and quality after 1895 he migrated to the United Kingdom thus this cello labeled as Britenfeld was made in Saxony during his time there.
The top is a finely even grained spruce of slab of two pieces exceptionally bookmatched and shows not major open cracks aside form one opening under the tail-piece. One minor opening on the treble side. Other cracks and openings are stable and holding professionally done in the United Kingdom at Cardiff Violins.
The back is a perfectly preserved two piece slab of maple with a fine even grain. Neck; scroll and ribs are also of similar timber. One minor repaired rib in the bass 'C' bout.
The newly cut Belgian bridge is a welcome addition allowing for more expressively sonorous tones. The instrument has a wide open expressive color with depth and richness over all strings and across all positions.
The neck and tailpeice are of fine quality ebony.
Pegs are Wittner Fine Tune mechanical pegs for easy tuning stability and lighter weight tailpiece.
There are no wolf tones present in any position.
