This SE Electronics sE2300 is a fair-condition condenser microphone. Our 8-point functional test was completed in full: all checks passed except signal clean and no crackle. The sE Electronics sE2300 is a large-diaphragm true condenser microphone built around a hand-crafted 1-inch capsule and traditional Class-A discrete electronics with a custom output transformer - no integrated circuits in the signal path. It offers three selectable polar patterns (cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8), making it adaptable across a wide range of recording situations. The frequency response spans 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a notably low self-noise of just 9 dB(A) and a maximum SPL of up to 146 dB when using the -20 dB attenuation pad. Switchable -10 dB and -20 dB pads and switchable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters add further versatility. Connection is via 3-pin XLR requiring 48V phantom power.
