Vintage 1968 Arbiter Germanium Fuzz Face
Killer Fuzz Face, fully revived by me @dominionelectric and ready for a new home!
This iconic piece of history just left the workbench. It required a very light touch to bring it back to its full glory while preserving its legendary soul.
The circuit board is 100% original. It features the ultra-rare, vertical stack font NKT275 germanium transistors. Orignal pot dates May of 1968.
The Restoration Work:
•Replaced a dead volume control with a custom-made Omeg pot.
•Battery Snap swapped out a modern replacement for an era-inspired style snap.
•Installed high-quality reproduction knobs, carefully aged and distressed in-house to perfectly match the natural patina of the original enclosure.
•Has a replacement baseplate screw
Germanium transistors are notoriously sensitive to temperature, but this specific pair is a rarity when it comes to old units as they bias beautifully right around 25°C. If you live in a warmer climates, this is the absolute perfect Fuzz Face for you.
As a bonus, out of the dozens of vintage Fuzz Faces I’ve owned over the years, this one has to have one of the lowest noise floors of any of them.
