This vintage Japanese domestic Epiphone Riviera plays and sounds great! This guitar was produced in the Matsumoku Factory as an alternative to the Norlin Era 335 models. The guitar is comprised of a maple top, body, and neck with a rosewood fretboard and well sought-after Maxon humbuckers.

This guitar can be dated to be manufactured from 1970-1973.

This guitar does show quite a bit of cosmetic wear from over the years that includes various surface scratches, scuffs, and dents throughout the body with additional dings on the headstock. There's also 3 holes that have been filled by our trusted luthier, Tom Jacobs of Jacobs Custom Guitars. Two of these holes are visible on the front of the body and one of the tone pot holes had been widened at one point in time. The hardware shows normal tarnishing and the binding around the neck and body has yellowed and chipped from over time. The binding has slightly lifted on the top in one of the cutaways as shown. This guitar retains its original frets, which still play great, but are lower, likely from a few fret levels over the years. All of the electronics work as they should.

The pickguard and volume/tone knobs are later replacements. As noted, previously drilled holes have now been filled. The guitar is otherwise original. For context, the holes are from a priorly installed battery power amp-style light that was since removed. This light existed separately from the electronics, and the existing electronics appear unchanged.
