Warm, balanced and instantly recognizable, the Epiphone J-45 Standard acoustic-electric guitar brings the round-shoulder dreadnought voice into a dependable stage-ready format. Part of Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson collection, this model draws from the long-standing J-45 design while pairing all-solid spruce and mahogany tonewoods with discreet Fishman electronics for modern performance. A comfortable one-piece mahogany neck with a Rounded C profile supports expressive playing, while soundhole-mounted controls and an under-saddle pickup preserve the guitar’s traditional appearance. From solo songwriting to full-band accompaniment, the J-45 Standard maintains a confident workhorse feel with practical refinement.
All-Solid Tonewoods That Define the J-45 Voice
A solid spruce top combined with solid mahogany back and sides produces the warm low end, clear mids and balanced projection associated with the J-45 sound. This all-solid construction allows the tone to open up over time, responding dynamically to both light fingerstyle and more assertive strumming. The round-shoulder dreadnought body shape supports strong projection while remaining well balanced for vocal accompaniment.
Rounded C Mahogany Neck With Classic Feel
The one-piece mahogany neck features a Rounded C profile that sits comfortably in the hand during extended sessions. A rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays offers smooth playability and clear visual reference. The 24.75" scale length provides a relaxed string feel that supports expressive phrasing and controlled bends.
Fishman Electronics for Reliable Amplified Control
Fishman Presys VT electronics paired with an under-saddle pickup deliver amplified tone that reflects the guitar’s natural acoustic character. Soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow quick, intuitive adjustments while remaining visually unobtrusive. This configuration keeps the instrument ready for live performance or recording with minimal setup.
Traditional Appointments With Practical Durability
Multi-ply binding on the top and single-ply binding on the back help protect the body edges during regular use. A rosewood belly-up bridge with a bone saddle supports consistent intonation and sustain, while Grover Rotomatic tuners promote smooth, stable tuning. The redesigned epoxy-style teardrop pickguard in tortoise shell coloring completes the familiar J-45 aesthetic.
A Heritage Platform for Modern Players
For players drawn to the warmth and balance of a round-shoulder dreadnought but seeking dependable electronics and all-solid construction in an accessible format, the Epiphone J-45 Standard offers a practical option. As an Inspired by Gibson model, it honors a classic design while remaining well suited for gigging, recording and daily practice, complete with a premium gig bag for transport and protection.
