Fender Japan JB62M Pro-Feel Medium Scale Jazz Bass 1993-94 Sonic Blue SBL MIJ

Up for sale is a rare Fender Japan JB62M Pro-Feel Medium Scale Jazz Bass, made in Japan around 1993–1994, with an N serial number and a Sonic Blue finish.

This is a very interesting and hard-to-find Fender Japan model. The JB62M is the medium-scale version of the classic ’62-style Jazz Bass, featuring a 32-inch scale length. It keeps the familiar Jazz Bass look and character, but with a more compact and comfortable feel.

This model belongs to Fender Japan’s Pro-Feel series, and this Sonic Blue / SBL finish is especially rare. The color has aged beautifully over time, now showing a slightly faded, vintage-looking Sonic Blue tone with a subtle mint/seafoam-like character. It gives the bass a very cool and authentic 1990s Fender Japan look.

The bass has a slim and comfortable neck grip, making it very easy to play. It should be a great choice not only for experienced players, but also for beginners or guitar players who want an easier transition into bass. The 32-inch scale gives it a more manageable feel than a standard long-scale Jazz Bass, while still retaining solid bass response and a proper Jazz Bass tone.

It is equipped with the original Fender Japan JB-VINTAGE pickups. The sound has a clear, defined midrange with good articulation, making it suitable for a wide range of styles. It has that classic Jazz Bass clarity, but with the slightly tighter and more approachable feel of a medium-scale instrument.

There are some small dings, light scratches, finish aging, and a few touched-up areas where the paint had chipped, mainly around the body edge. These areas are visible in the photos. Overall, the bass has a very attractive aged appearance and remains in good playing condition.

The frets have plenty of life remaining, around 90% or more. The neck, electronics, and pickups have been checked, and the bass is ready to play.

A Fender gig bag is included, but please consider it a bonus item only. The zipper pull is missing, there is a small hole at the lower part of the case, and one shoulder strap area has some damage.

This is a used vintage Japanese bass.

There are small dings, minor scratches, natural finish aging, and some touched-up paint chips. The most visible touched-up areas are around the body edge near the control plate side. The body color has also slightly faded over time, giving it a very nice vintage character.

The neck is comfortable and easy to play. The frets remain in very good condition with around 90% or more life left. The electronics and pickups have been tested and work properly.
