Rogue LX408 Pro - 8-String Double Course Bass - Active/Passive - 2010s - Natural / Yellow Flamed Maple - w/ Hardshell Case

Here we have a beautiful 8-string bass by Rogue, this model was made in Korea, likely by Cortek and mainly produced in the 2000s to early 2010s as a mid-end option for 8-string basses.

8-strings are a rare breed of bass that is underrated and surprisingly versatile. The tone is unique, bright, and extremely full, they take up a lot of room in the frequency range which makes them particularly good for soloing. I find them most fitting for slap, as that gives the most balanced tone from each string without overpowering each other. The LX408 Pro is an extremely solid model that is packed full of features, including a lightweight basswood body, flamed maple top, maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, Grover hardware, abalone dot inlays and a brass nut.

Additionally, it includes active electronics with a passive push/pull switch, 2-band EQ, master tone, volume, and a pickup blend which powers the single coil neck pickup and humbucker at the bridge.

This one in particular is in an extremely good condition and has obviously been well taken care of. There is little wear or signs of use and is overall in a beautiful shape.

Playability-wise, it is equally solid, the action gets low, the neck is perfectly straight, which is often an issue on 8-strings in particular, and all hardware functions perfectly, including the truss rod which has room in both directions. Also, despite having essentially double the hardware of a normal bass, it weighs just under 9Ib, making it comfortable to play.
