Iconic Akai GXC-710D Cassette Deck/ Fully Serviced and Tested/ Year 1976 Japan/ Near Mint

Beautiful high-end AKAI GXC-710D deck, 3 tape types, Dolby B, built like tank, silver face timber enclosure, 1976.

Built more like one of their famous reel-to-reels than a cassette deck (it weighs 9kg,  is driven by a large AC synchronous motor, and is beautifully constructed) Akai went to a great deal of effort with their GXC-710D. Every control is a pleasure to operate, and it’s a joy to listen to and gaze at. It also has a lot of features you simply wouldn’t expect on a 1976 machine. This one’s a keeper 'cause there haven't been any in this condition for many years !

Nevertheless, it's a gorgeous and charming piece of furniture.

This near mint condition tape deck was recently fully serviced and tested.

The service, was performed by C.AT. Sound lab in Rome, which certifies this device is in perfect functional condition and where new belts were replaced. A complete professional service was done, the contacts of the pots and switches were cleaned, the heads were demagnetized, and the belt speed control was calibrated to perfection. I paid € 91.50 for that service, as you can see from the invoice (last photo).

Meravigliosa AKAI GXC-710D, forte e resistente come un carro armato, custodia in legno, silver face, 1976.

Sembra costruito più come uno dei loro famosi registratori a bobine più che come una piastra a cassette (pesa ben 9 kg, è azionato da un grande motore sincrono a corrente alternata e vanta una testina in ferrite indistruttibile).

Ogni controllo è un piacere da azionare, ed è una gioia da ascoltare e guardare. Inoltre ha una serie di funzioni che non ci si aspetterebbe da una macchina del 1976. Questa è una macchina da conservare perché in queste condizioni non se ne trovano più da parecchi anni!

Se le condizioni estetiche sono quasi del tutto IMMACOLATE nonostante abbia compiuto mezzo secolo di età, quelle funzionali sono del tutto PERFETTE! La macchina, infatti, è stata appena ritirata da un centro tecnico di assistenza per una manutenzione generale.

Il servizio è stato eseguito dal laboratorio C.A.T. Sound di Roma, che certifica che questo apparecchio è in perfette condizioni funzionali. Nel corso del servizio sono state installate nuove cinghie, è stata effettuata una revisione meccanica completa, sono stati puliti i contatti dei potenziometri e degli interruttori, le testine sono state demagnetizzate e il controllo della velocità del nastro è stato calibrato alla perfezione. Al termine è stato effettuato il collaudo finale.

Splendido oggetto, in condizioni PERFETTE. A breve sarà una rarità...
