Don't get fooled again by Ping Works and Hipshot asian Fender tuners that LOOK like Schaller!!! They aren't!
These are the earlier genuine vintage Fender Schaller (made in Germany) locking tuners in the now rare and harder to find polished chrome finish (not brushed). This set is in near-mint condition with only very "microscopic" signs of use. The set works perfectly and looks awesome!
They're 16:1 ratio and came stock on the late 90's USA Plus Ultra as well as early 2000's American Deluxe Strats. Unlike the current Taiwanese-made locking tuners made today with the "F" logo, these are polished chrome with no logo and are of a highly superior construction.
The tuners are staggered 3 and 3 so the E, B and G strings sit lower than the D, A and E strings for better break angle, but unlike the current model, the posts are all the same height which is a lot more aesthetically pleasing on the headstock. There's also a ballbearing in the string holes that automatically push down when you put the string through it which is a nice touch and also isn't on the current model. Mounting screw bushings are included, as well as the washers. Fantastic vintage set.
Tech info: Fender Schaller locking tuners typically have two different staggered post heights. This design provides the necessary downward string tension over the nut without needing string trees. The two post heights are typically arranged as follows:
- Three tall posts: For the lower E, A, and D strings.
- Three short posts: For the higher G, B, and high E strings.
