Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a gorgeous older Electro Voice model 911 crystal microphone based on the similar 611 dynamic version that was sold for about 10 years during the 1950's before the design changed around 1960 and eventually discontinued around 1970. This microphone comes complete with the period Atlas DS-5 model desk stand shown in which to display. This unique design came right out of Buchanan, Michigan and has a look all it's own with it's clean, pleasing lines and curves. One of the more attractive and interesting designs for sure.

Pic # 2 is from an old 1950's E.V catalog showing this very model. Before the 611 and 911 models there was only the 610 and 910 model. These were the forerunner to the later 611 and 911 mics that were sold from the 1950's to 1960's. These 911 microphones were used for dispatch and general broadcasting purposes when they were originally sold.

Pic # 3 is an E.V 911 I sold to the set of Marvelous Ms. Maisel on HBO years ago to be used in several scenes.

It should be noted that as nice as the mic looks...the original crystal element no longer works. This mic should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only. They rarely come this nice however so this is certainly a very collectible example.

Most 911's no longer work as the crystal elements did not hold up well over time due to issues with humidity and temperature. I haven't come across a good working 911 in over a year.

As seen in the pics provided...the polished chrome finish has a very nice luster. The polished chromed body on this 911 has almost zero wear as seen in the pics provided. Just a few very subtle scuff marks on the front grill. Mic is a very conservative 9 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. Please let the pictures be your guide. I try to provide the most detailed, up close photos available so you know exactly what you are getting and no buyers remorse so common with these older mics.

The stainless steel mesh screen is in excellent condition and looks beautiful with zero wear, odors or dents. Threads for the cable and stand are perfect and this mic will screw onto any American desk or floor stand. The E.V badge looks very clean as well and on / off switch works perfectly. Everything is tight on this mic. No issues.

      Also included...

A very nice older Atlas desk stand from the 1950's era and perfect for just about any older vintage microphone. This DS-5 model was the industry standard for decades having a heavy cast iron base allowing it's user to mount just about any screw on mic or mic clip. These were quite hard to tip over regardless of what mic was sitting on top.

This DS-5 desk stand was made in Brooklyn, NY. There are zero scratches or paint chips on the original dark grey paint. No rust stains on the bottom of the base. This is a very nice older DS-5 overall.

Total length is 7 inches high x 6 inches wide. With mic on top it's appx 13 inches tall.

The chrome stem shows no wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. All 3 original rubber pads are in very nice condition.

This is perfect for the 911 because of it's wide, stable base and manufacture date. This stand is an easy 9 + on a scale of 10.

This is going to make a very nice combo and will draw attention anywhere it's displayed in the home, office or studio.

               As always...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
