Legendary Fender Jazzmaster JM-66-85 US 3TS, manufactured in Japan in 2000.
*Hand-selected and imported from Japan by us*
The Fender Jazzmaster is an electric guitar model introduced by Fender in 1958 (four years after the iconic Stratocaster). Fender positioned it as a more upscale offering than the Stratocaster—which was itself considered an evolution of the Telecaster.
This is a sought-after, rare model—even in Japan! It is well-suited for a wide range of styles, from pop and rock to much heavier genres.
In very good overall condition, with some signs of wear; the frets show signs of play but remain in decent shape—rated 6 to 7/10 (please see photos for further details). Good playability.
It delivers precise tones, powered by two original Fender wide single-coil pickups. The sound is rounder and warmer than that of a Stratocaster, leaning closer to a "jazz" tone. Ironically, the jazz musicians for whom it was ostensibly designed rarely adopted it. Instead, it found its success among rock, grunge, and pop guitarists—including those playing much heavier rock styles. Like the Jaguar, the Jazzmaster fell out of fashion by the early 1970s and was eventually dropped from the catalog in 1977.
Since the late 1980s, however, it has been back in production, with instruments manufactured in both Japan and the USA.
