A#1+25 Grotta Sonora 41" Octagong

The Grotta Sonora Octagong takes the basic idea of a gong in a completely different direction. Its eight-sided shape and folded edges meet at 45-degree angles, creating a sound that combines a deep, pulsing fundamental with shimmering mid-range frequencies that emerge from the angled sections of the gong.

The result is distinctly different from a traditional round gong. The low center tone has depth and weight, while the eight folded sides add movement and brighter textures around it. Like every Grotta Sonora gong, each Octagong is handmade and individually tuned by ear in Italy, so no two sound exactly alike.

A Note About Gong Sizes
Each Grotta Sonora gong is handmade, so exact dimensions can vary slightly. Because the Octagong is eight-sided, its published size is measured from corner to corner; the distance from one flat edge to the opposite edge is smaller.

Fundamental Notes
The listed note and octave represent the gong's primary center tone. A gong produces many frequencies at once, and the apparent pitch can shift somewhat with playing volume and the overtones that are activated. Use the note as a reference, and listen to the recording for the best representation of that individual gong.
