RARE 1981 BOSS SD-1 NEC C4558C Chip & Factory CE-2 Blue Undercoat
Our users rate Reverb
Selling a rare piece from my personal collection: an original 1981 BOSS SD-1 Made in Japan from the very first months of production.
Why it’s special:
-NEC C4558C Op-Amp: Only used in the earliest 1981 batch before switching to JRC. It delivers richer harmonics, warmer low-end, and incredible interaction with reverb tanks that later JRC models just don't match.
-Factory "Blue-over-Yellow" Body: Beneath the yellow paint wear, you can see the original sky-blue CE-2 chassis reused by Roland/BOSS in 1981. Extremely rare .
Condition:
-100% functional and 100% original circuit (unmodded).
-Authentic vintage wear showing the blue undercoat.
-Requires 12v ACA power.
