Rare original-run Gibson SG Voodoo from 2003.

Serial number: 03243436. This serial is consistent with Gibson USA production in 2003.

This is one of the original early-2000s Gibson Voodoo models, not a later reissue. The SG Voodoo was produced only briefly and used a very unusual specification for an SG: swamp ash body, mahogany set neck, ebony fingerboard, red skull inlay, black/red pickups, black hardware and Gibson’s distinctive Juju finish.

This particular guitar is a genuine heavily played example with substantial natural finish wear and a very raw appearance. It is not a factory-relic guitar.

Ownership / history

I purchased this guitar used approximately six years ago. The previous owner told me that the guitar had been played live and that the extensive worn appearance of the finish had developed through use.

At the time of purchase I was specifically told that the guitar had no cracks, and during my ownership I have not found any cracks, repaired breaks or other structural damage.

The original Voodoo hard case had also been heavily used and traveled extensively. The exterior covering is lifting/missing in places and the original case key is no longer present.

One of the defining features of the original Voodoo series is the swamp ash body rather than the mahogany normally associated with the SG. The ebony board and red skull inlay are factory Voodoo features.

Condition

Good used condition with extensive cosmetic wear. This is a heavily played instrument and not a collector-clean example. The extensive finish wear is genuine post-factory player wear rather than factory relic treatment.

Shipping

The guitar will be secured carefully inside the hard-shell case with appropriate neck/head-stock support. The case will then be packed inside a suitable outer guitar carton with additional protective material to prevent movement during transit. Shipping will be tracked and insured.
