An amazing and super rare Rickenbacker Bantar FG from July of 1967 (serial number GG3362). They only made 50 of these instruments, some in Fireglo, some in Mapleglo, although no one knows how many of each, or how many are still in existence. With further inspection we noticed all of the pot dates are the 33rd or 34th week of 1988. Though this guitar was built in 1967, it sat at Rickenbacker and was finally wired up and sold in 1988. We found online someone with a 1968 Lightshow guitar with the same pot dates. As neither models were big sellers initially, they finally moved them in 1988, similar to original Flying V's and Explorers where the last ones were sold around 1963 wirh 60's appointments. This specific Bantar looks to be the one featured in the famous "Rittor" Rickenbacker book (if you have the book, check out the grain, it matches exactly!). It is in extremely good condition for a 1967. The electronics work and sound great! There is one approx 4" long surface scratch in the back, and some very mild wear on the bottom edge near the input jack. The scratch is surface so it is hard to see. The drone string tuning key is split on one side (cannot be seen in photos), has been glued but we replaced it so there are no issues when using it and the original button is in the case with a new tuner, if ever needed. This is a major collectors instrument that will never be going down in value. One of the rarest Rickenbackers ever built! This Bantar was part of The Songbirds collection. Includes original black tolex case, also in fantastic condition! This Bantar is in 9/10 condition overall.Roger McGuinn and Bela Fleck are a couple of artist that used one of these over the years. Get this rare collectors item today.
