Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an excellent working and somewhat rare early Calrad DM-20 dynamic microphone with original desk stand, cable & box. The DM-20 is what I would describe as a modern / midcentury, all metal rugged design.

This 1950's or early 60's era Japanese microphone has a dynamic element which has been tested and works very well being set at High Z and will make a great general purpose mic or excellent harp mic. The mic has a classic "rockabilly" tone being void of bass and it's omni-directional picking up a bit more background noise.

As you can see in the pictures provided this mic is in very nice cosmetic condition with all original paint. There are just a few tiny blemishes in the original flat black paint. There are no dents or fractures anywhere on the mic however and the matching Calrad DS-3 model stand shows about the same amount of wear.

The front grill looks very nice and seems to have a gold plating with a beautiful royal blue cloth screen. The Calrad label is pretty nice too. The joint mechanism works perfectly allowing good tilt back and forth. The threads for both the cable and stand are excellent. The original 6 foot cable is soft and pliable with zero cracks or dry rot and it comes with a quality male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most modern audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.

The stand is provided and compliments the mic nicely as well as providing a very stable platform. It's an all metal design with original paint. The 4 inch chrome tube on the desk stand shows no wear. There are 3 original felt pads on the bottom of the base to keep the stand from scratching any surface it may happen to rest on. The DS-3 has very lite wear on the paint with small scuffs and scratches. No paint chips however. Total height with mic and stand is appx 9 inches.

The original DM-20 box is included as well and in very good condition. A rare accessory that's a great place to keep all the contents when not in use.

As with all my vintage microphones...
