RAW SERIES Steel PICCOLO GUITAR features steel body with flat cut f-holes, chickenfeet coverplate and flat back. Maple neck, peghead headstock. Unbound Ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, with super, punchy, and penetrating but sweet tone with a huge dynamic range. Loads of sparkling beautiful tone, and an absolute blast to play!

The Piccolo guitar is special: it has a short scale (22.5") neck on a tenor guitar body. And it is strung with lighter gauge strings .046-.010. It is also tuned a fourth higher than usual standard tuning, so it goes from A to A. So, it is like having a capo on the fifth fret of a regular scaled and tuned guitar. Playing E chord shapes makes an A chord, and so forth.

The first Piccolo Nationals were instigated by Dakota Dave Hull, and built about a decade ago.

The Raw Series finishes were introduced a handful of years ago at National. The metal is not painted or plated, but does have two invisible coats of carnuba wax rubbed into the body to protect the finish. They are beautiful and sound great, and are a very NICE PRICE because of the savings in not plating or painting the guitar.
