Noble & Cooley, THE FIRST SET. 22/8/10/12/13/14" Single Ply Drum Set - Black Lacquer

This is the very fisrt Noble & Cooley drum set! This set was made for Denny Carmassi, and used by him during his stint with Heart in 1982 when he was selected to replace outgoing drummer Michael Derosier. Since this was the first solid shell set they made (toms only. Bass drum is ply), they made two sets just in case there were any issues with the one that Denny had. N&C has the second set, and this is the first one that was made for Denny and used with Heart. 8x8, 8x10, 9x12, 10x13, 12x14 and 16x22" bass drum. The bass drum is NOT single ply, it is six ply. All the toms are single ply maple. Nick from N&C saw the kit at my shop this past week (5/18/19) and relayed the story to me.

These drums are top notch, with everything in the design aimed at resonance. The lugs only have one hole drilled on the toms and the drums are all on rims mounts. The inner shells have been stained, this is original. These drums sing with that single ply character that we know and love, something that can only be achieved in this style of construction. These were made for a short time in the eighties and are incredibly hard to find. The sizes are versatile, you could use this one kit for many different purposes. The condition is good. This kit has been used and there are blemishes and snare rub on the 12” tom. Also some of the hardware has oxidization, you can see in the pictures. The kit is totally functional and would be a perfect kit for a professional player who wants these sizes, but, given the significant history behind this set it would be a superb collector's piece. The Noble & Cooley drums are fabulous and they have a strong following of dedicated fans. This kit is a "must-have" for a Noble & Cooley fan or a Denny Carmassi/Heart fan.
