This is a rare guitar - the only one of it’s kind ever built by Avalon featuring Wenge back and sides, a very lively African hardwood with a chocolatey brown hue and very tight grain. Couple with a lovely honey’d up Sitka Spruce sound board with some wonderful cross silking, this guitar projects exceptionally well. Tonally it has all the hallmarks of a spruce/rosewood steel string but with a surprising added projection & clarity. It really is a wonderful sounding guitar with beautifully balance bass and trebles.

Built in 2019 to investigate the use of Wenge wood as a substitute for rosewood, which at that time had been identified as subject to CITES ruling of endangered species, meant adhering to strict regulations in export/import laws and additional tax duties. The restrictions were withdrawn and further investigation into the use of alternative woods was not pursued, so this remains a unique one of a kind build for Avalon.

As it’s an Avalon the build quality is of course impeccable and it's been customised with a Celtic Knot inlay in mother of pearl with interlinking circle in Abalone on the 5th fret and a Celtic knot inlay on the 12th. It also comes stage ready with a factory fitted LR Baggs Lyric pickup. With a list cost of over £4k with the pickup and inlays, this guitar in this condition is an absolute steal and sounds incredible!

It’s in excellent unmarked condition and travels in a Hiscox Lifelite Pro II hardcase
