Rickenbacker 4001 1972 Mat black Iggy POP The Idiot Sessions

I am Laurent Thibault. I sell my bass Rickenbacker 4001 with which I played on the album The Idiot of Iggy Pop in Le Château in 76... David (Bowie) played himself on it on Funtime.

In Le Château and in other studios, in other studios, this bass was played on many records and on stage

The serial number is LJ1125, which means that this boss was manufactured in Oct 1972.

This bass was bought in New York in 1973. It’s an old one, so she is heavy ! Which means that it has a big sound with deep basses, beautifully embellished by the old neck PU. The Seymour Duncan bridge PU is newer, because the original one started with time to be demagnetized and had lost trebles.  

As it is an old 4001, the binding around the guitare is black and white. Not really white now, because it has yellowed with time.

The case is the original case. As two locks were broken by someone who wanted to steal the instrument, it now closes with a belt.

Why I sell this wonderful and historic bass? For a big and nice project. When you want to be musical, you need money…

The price is really cool considering the age of the instrument, its glorious past and history.

Je vends ma Rickenbacker 4001 avec laquelle j'ai joué sur l'album The Idiot D'iggy. David (Bowie) a lui même enregistré sur cette basse FunTime.
Cette basse a un gros son. Attention, c'est une vieille, elle est lourde, ce n'est pas comme celles d'aujourd'hui ! Le binding est en ivoire noir et blanc.  Le n° de série LJ1125 montre qu'elle date d'octobre 1972. Je l'ai achetée à New-York en 1973.
Elle a été enregistrée sur de nombreux disques au Château d'Hérouville et ailleurs, et fait pas mal de scènes...
L'étui d'origine a été forcé, il ferme avec une ceinture. les mécaniques Grover d'origine marchent, mais il vaut mieux les changer. Le micro chevalet s'est désaimanté avec le temps, je l'ai remplacé par un Seymour Duncan.
Je la vends pour aider un gros projet. La musique c'est toujours rock n' roll, et cela fait partie du jeu !
J'ai baissé le prix, difficile de faire mieux pour un instrument avec un tel passé, et de cet âge...
