🎙️ MICROPHONE OVERVIEW

The Sennheiser MD 421 is a well-established professional dynamic microphone design associated with studio recording, broadcast, and live sound.

This MD 421-U 4 features a black housing, silver Sennheiser logo, and five-position bass roll-off control, allowing low-frequency response to be adjusted for different sources and recording situations.

Potential applications include:

• Brass and wind instruments, including trombone
• Guitar amplifiers and other amplified sources
• Drums and percussion
• Vocals, speech, and broadcast
• General studio recording

Actual results depend on the source, microphone placement, room acoustics, and recording chain.

✨ CONDITION & COSMETIC DETAILS

The microphone presents in exceptionally clean vintage condition, consistent with the previous owner's description. It has been function-tested and confirmed working by the seller.

There is one small, shallow indentation on the top of the metal grille basket. I initially noticed it by touch before identifying it visually. Although subtle, this imperfection is disclosed for transparency.

Condition summary:

• Exceptionally clean overall vintage appearance
• One small, shallow grille indentation
• Black housing with silver Sennheiser logo
• Five-position bass roll-off control
• Function tested and confirmed working

Please examine the photographs, particularly the close-up views of the grille, to assess the cosmetic condition.

🎬 SOUND DEMONSTRATION & RECORDING DETAILS

Recording setup

• Recorder: Zoom H6essential
• Recording format: 32-bit float

The spoken sections received approximately +22 dB of gain in REAPER for comfortable listening levels. The trombone performance was recorded flat, without EQ, compression, or additional post-processing. The cup-muted section received approximately +8 dB of additional gain.
