The MXR M152 Micro Flanger is a compact analog flanger pedal that creates swirling, metallic, jet-plane-like sweeps and thick, moving guitar tones. Based on the classic MXR M117 Flanger, it delivers vintage-style modulation in a smaller enclosure with just two control knobs, making it easy to operate and fit onto a pedalboard.
How it sounds
Flanging combines your original guitar signal with a very short, modulated delay. As that delay changes, it creates moving peaks and dips in the tone, producing a distinctive sweeping sound.
The M152 can deliver several useful tonal characters:
- Subtle, swirling movement: Adds depth and motion to clean chords without overwhelming the original guitar tone.
- Classic jet-plane sweep: Produces the dramatic, rising-and-falling whoosh associated with vintage rock effects.
- Metallic, spacey textures: Creates resonant, almost synthetic sounds for psychedelic and experimental music.
- Thick, aggressive modulation: Works particularly well with overdrive and distortion for hard rock, alternative rock, and grunge.
Its all-analog, bucket-brigade circuitry gives the effect a warm, organic character.
