A fabulous piece of guitar building history! A sensational Les Paul style creation by James Trussart, hand built in France in 1998, before he permanently settled in LA towards the end of 2000.

Barbara Lynn, Rosie Flores, James Hetfield

Check out our pics to see a couple of up and coming young James Trussart players, but other big names include both Natalie Maines & Emily Robison of the (Dixie) Chicks, Tom Morello, Bob Weir, Ziggy Marley, Brendan Benson, Paul Simon, Lucinda Williams, Mick Jones of the Clash and Big Audio Dynamite, Warren Ellis, Sheryl Crow, Robert Cray, Sonny Landreth, Cat Power, Steve Earle, the legendary Barbara Lynn, Rosie Flores, James Hetfield, Luther Dickinson, Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick… and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, the man who came up with the Rust-O-Matic name for Trussart’s unique metal ageing process.

Guitar building history

With his brilliant aged steel construction, James Trussart immediately gave guitarists worldwide an entirely new tone palette – not to mention a range of instruments that looked like nothing else on the planet. This was the 22nd Trussart guitar of 1998, (the 9822 serial number is stamped on the neckplate, however we couldn’t manage a clear photo), and combined with the Paris build, makes for an incredible and important piece of modern guitar building history.

Arcane pickups

Powered by an absolutely awesome set of Arcane pickups, the Steel Deville comes across like the love child of a Les Paul Custom and a National steel! Though surprisingly far more LP than steel, a fair degree of the punch is no doubt due to the substantial centre-block, which looks solid enough to have been sourced from a railway sleeper!

Coffin case

In Excellent- condition – all we have done is polished up the frets and oiled the fingerboard – the guitar is completely original, bar one replaced pot, (the original is included), and comes in its original, super-deluxe, red-lined coffin case, with all latches in perfect working order.

A highly desirable guitar!

An early James Trussart Steel Deville, ready to plug in and play straight out of the box, which will put a smile on your face that will be hard to erase. You will probably need to keep a close eye on your bandmates, as this is a highly desirable guitar!
